Modernism in Lviv

The architecture of modernism in Lviv was a separate philosophy, where the city was perceived as a living organism. The basis of all architectural ideas was the harmony between the city, houses and people. The craftsmanship of Lviv builders, the aesthetics and style of these buildings are so powerful that they still look very modern and original, as they did almost a hundred years ago. This means that Lviv is an important and at the same time unique part of perhaps the most popular direction in European architecture.

Lviv. Architecture of Modernism — this is the first research portal about the understudied architecture of interwar modernism in Lviv.


We raise the issue of preserving the architecture of interwar modernism in Lviv, form a database of architectural objects of the interwar period, which contains maximum information and photos, talk about architects and people who created, lived and were inspired by modernism architecture in Lviv. We research the stories of current and former residents, analyze the contexts and realities of the interwar period and share it with you in publications. Love and explore modernist Lviv with us!
