Building on Rossi St, 3
A three-story residential building, designed as a revenue house. It is located at 3 Rossi St in the neighborhood of Tsetnerivka (side street of Lychakivska St).
A resident of the house claims that in the interwar period, the house was mostly occupied by doctors.
The house is a vivid example of Galician art deco (crystal style). The motive of crystal is used in all decorative elements of the exterior: the front facade is decorated with broad triangular belt courses, the same geometric decisions can be found on the entrance door, handrails, and balconies.
The original color of the plaster has been preserved almost everywhere. Horizontal belt courses encircle the entire perimeter. Geometrical shapes of a wooden entrance door are typical for this style; in this case, these are hexagons.
Windows are segmented by muntin. Balcony handrails echo the rhythmics of the whole facade. There is a relief with the construction year indicated on the wall.
In the interior, the entrance portal supports the crystal ensemble of the whole building. Geometric reliefs can be seen on both sides on the walls.
The entrance doors to the apartments, as well as the concrete staircase, are as simple as possible. Unfortunately, the handrails endings have not been preserved.
The gradual transition from decorated art deco to simpler modernism and later to functionalism can be clearly seen in this apartment building.
